the Golden Gate Shuitou wharf is the largest marine rock removal project in Taiwan's history, carrying the heavy responsibility of providing better services for mainland tourists to Taiwan. The total amount of rock to be blasted is 240000 cubic meters, with a total investment of more than NT $2 billion. The project was officially started in 2000, but due to the complex distribution of rocks in Kinmen area and the great impact of tides, most of the rocks need to be drilled and blasted on the seabed, and Taiwan has no company specializing in underwater rock blasting, so the construction period was seriously delayed. Since taking over the project at the end of 2010, Taiwan Honghua Construction Co., Ltd. has abandoned the traditional artificial seabed drilling method and changed to the offshore mechanical drilling method. 1. Accurate positioning: the traditional manual drilling can not accurately locate under the sea and can not effectively control the hole spacing, which often leads to the situation that the rock cannot be blasted, while the offshore drilling rig can be constructed on a stable support platform and can effectively control the hole spacing and angle

2. It can work for a long time: traditional manual drilling can only work for hours a day even if the weather is good, because it needs to dive underwater for operation, while offshore drilling rigs can work almost 24 hours a day

3. Not limited by weather and seabed conditions: in addition to bad weather and inability to work in the sea, traditional manual drilling often fails to drill to a fixed depth, and is vulnerable to the influence of sediment on the rock, which is often too thick to drill into the rock

4. It can accurately control the drilling depth: because the fixed height of the offshore platform can cooperate with the existing depth gauge of machines and tools to accurately control the drilling depth, it will not cause waste of explosives
